SSAFA – Volunteer Support Manager (South West and West Regions)

£33,000 per annum 12-month contract

37.5 hours per week

Home based within South West and West Regions

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a 12-month contract within the role of Volunteer Support Manager West to support branches and service committees at SSAFA, the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity.

About the role

Based at home with frequent travel across the regions and to London, you will provide regular support with recruitment, engagement and associated activities to our volunteer officers across the regions. Building relationships with SSAFA branches and service committees alongside representatives of military and other charities will be essential.

In addition, you will be a member of the team developing best practice guidance and tools to be used across the volunteer network of some 5,500 volunteers, making SSAFA a truly volunteer led organisation.

Requirements

To carry out this role successfully you will have a passion for working with volunteers and a commitment to volunteer delivered services. Whilst a military background is not essential it would be an advantage, however previous experience of working with volunteers is preferred, along with an understanding of their motivation.

Previous experience of supporting volunteer groups, preferably in recruitment, the development and embedding of best practice, external awareness raising and the ability to prioritise a wide range of competing demands are key to the success in this post. Additionally, the confidence to present to a wide range of influential audiences is essential.
