Lord Kitchener National Memorial Fund (LKNMF)

The Council of the Lord Kitchener National Memorial Fund offers for competition a variety of educational Scholarships for those reading for their first degree.

Support Offered

Up to a maximum of 25 scholarships tenable from October each year. The Scholarships are available for the sons and daughters of those serving, or have served in the British Armed Services and intend to read for their first degree.

From time to time, Scholarships are also available for application from serving members, under the age of 30, who wish to study for their first degree.

In addition, if funding permits, Scholarships to INSEAD, for those studying for an MBA, may also become available.

All Scholarships are awarded after competition interview and only in the year the degree course starts.

Who can the Trust help?

The child of a Scot who has served or is serving in the Armed Forces.

We also work selectively in Scotland with national and local authorities, schools and the military,  in support of Scottish service children at school who face challenges resulting from mobility and parental deployment.

Surf Action

To promote and protect the physical and mental health and welfare of those who have been wounded whilst serving in the Armed Forces and civilian emergency services by introducing them to surfing and other peer group activities.

To assist veterans in adjusting to civilian life, including those challenged by mental and physical problems improving their quality of life.

To maintain a high level of care of veterans.

To build or restore, equip, staff and maintain a recovery centre for the care of veterans by veterans.

Support Offered

Surf Action support veterans and family members on a daily and weekly basis through their beach clinics held at Gwithian beach near St Ives each Friday.

The project boosts moral, confidence; self esteem and can be positive and complimentary therapy to ongoing rehabilitation.

Using the coastal environment is a great way to improve the mental and physical wounds, but it's not the only way. This is where Surf Action can sign post to other organisations to help with health, social and welfare issues. Surf Action are much more than just surfing.
