Whether you’re exploring the idea of self-employment or already have a business in mind, the Supporting the Unsung Hero Business Start-Up Programme is designed with you in mind, your lifestyle, your learning style, and your ambitions. Whether you’re ready to launch or just curious, come along.
This in-person 2-day interactive exploration programme supports participants to shape ideas, understand business models, and take the first steps towards building their own business. Having completed Stage 1 – the SUH Business Awareness Workshop – this is the progression programme designed to support your skillset development for your business ideas.
This programme is funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Trust Fund, Landmarc Solutions and Pinnacle Families Service.
In a safe, welcoming, and flexible environment, we’ll help you explore a variety of self-employment options from freelancing and contracting to running your own business full-time or as part of a portfolio career. This is a practical, peer-supported space where you can build confidence, ask questions, and build a business that moves with you. Hosted by people who understand military family life.
Over a series of online and in-person workshops you’ll gain an insight into:
- The realities of self-employment – the pros, the challenges, and what success looks like for you
- How to develop a business plan and the impact of planning on business success, identifying your future customers, competitors and market trends.
- Effective marketing communication using proven models and how to apply segmentation strategies
- Building a strong business identity
- The legal structures of business, understanding your tax obligations and basic bookkeeping skills
- Enhancing your networking skills and building confidence through peer connection
- Planning for a sustainable business
- Dedicated 1v1 mentoring support- to help you further
- Online community group support vis social media groups
- Bespoke networking opportunities both online and in person
- Access to XFE, XFE are a Business Support Partner for the Government backed Start Up Loan. Our dedicated Business Advisors can support you with an application
Am I eligible?
This programme is designed for Partners/Spouses of Service Personnel, Partners/Spouses of Veterans and Partners/Spouses of Reservists.
XFE support all members of the Armed Forces Community, if you’re unsure about eligibility, please reach out to events@x-forces.com, we will help you find the right option.
