Cobseo Executive Committee

Meet the Cobseo Executive Committee through our new series in more detail here

Cobseo’s Executive Committee is made up of a Vice Chair and 17 Cobseo Members, of whom eight are permanent and are represented by their Chief Executive or equivalent. The Directors are often asked to take the lead in major issues and projects that have been identified as needing a collective approach. Within its constitution, the Executive Committee is empowered to co-opt specialist knowledge or opinion to further its objectives.

As well as the Annual General Meeting, the Executive Committee meets four times a year to identify issues and concerns that affect the Armed Forces Community and agree on a collaborative and coherent direction to deliver solutions. These meetings are an opportunity for the committee to share information about plans and developments in their own organisations and how they might affect the whole of the Armed Forces Community.

Eligibility to stand for election is restricted to Full Members. Before submitting a nomination to serve as a Director, Members should be confident that they will enhance Cobseo’s work in delivering its aims and objectives, notably:

  • as an individual; knowledgeable, experienced, and committed to act in the interests of Cobseo first and foremost rather than their charity or self;
  • as an organisation; resourced to spare the capacity of its CEO, which will include attendance at quarterly and other ad hoc meetings of the Executive Committee and also the AGM.

Those deciding to stand should describe inter alia in their Nomination Statements why they should be elected, including how as an organisation and as an individual they:

  • already engage with and support the Confederation and Cobseo Office;
  • would add value to decision-making on a broad range of relevant issues.
