Join the Tour d’Invictus!

The Invictus Games Foundation is coordinating a new virtual challenge following the route of the world’s most iconic cycle race – Tour de France. From 1200 (BST) 26 September to 1200 (BST) 17 October 2021, teams of 8 will have just three weeks to cover the 2124 miles (3418 km) route.

This cycling challenge follows the success of previous collective challenges, such as virtually rowing from Sydney to The Hague, or the virtual Lap of Holland earlier this year, with running, cycling or swimming to make up the distance.

The aim of the Tour D’Invictus is to complete the 2021 Tour de France route as a team of up to 8 – all 2124 miles of it within a 3-week period, on any cycling device that records time and distance. This could be riding on the road, via Zwift, or on static cycling machines, etc.
Participants have the choice of either forming their own team of 8 cyclists from their community, workplace, or school; or to sign up individually, and join one of the Unconquered Teams! These Unconquered Teams will be made up of randomly selected individuals to form teams with mixed nationalities, experience and riding styles (upright / recumbent / hand / tricycle).

If you wish to sign up for a spot on an Unconquered Team, the cut of for sign ups is 1200 (BST) Monday 20 September.

“Virtual challenges such as these are a great way to encourage forward momentum in our current situation” – Amy, a participant in one of our previous virtual challenges.

Developed in partnership with ReSports – the 2021 Tour de France route has been translated onto a digital map so that participants can track their progress through the stages, and the progress of all the other teams in the race. Those taking part contribute to the collective total of their team by taking to their bikes, and then inputting the distance online.

This is an open event, free to enter, and all are welcome but we recommend that it is only suitable for those over the age of 16. If people wish to make a donation or if teams wish to use this event as a vehicle to raise funds for the Invictus Games Foundation, please use the link provided to our Just Giving campaign page: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/tour-d-invictus

“It was great to feel part of a large team with a common goal, yet to also have the stimulus of competition within the team” – Andy, a participant in one of our previous virtual challenges.

Thanks to the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust for their ongoing support for our virtual active esports activity.
