The Banham Foundation has awarded the RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF’s leading welfare charity, with a grant for £10,000 to support RAF veterans attending Group Friendship Breaks.

The RAF Benevolent Fund provides Group Friendship Breaks to older RAF veterans, their partners or carers, and widows, to help build new friendships, prevent social isolation and improve mental health.
The Breaks, run by the Fund’s Community Engagement Workers, include an array of activities for veterans to take part in throughout the week including archery, indoor bowls, bingo, quizzes and outings by the sea.

The Banham Foundation is a dedicated supporter of the Fund and has awarded grants previously towards a wide range of programmes to help members of the RAF Family with financial, practical and emotional assistance.

Sheila Brazil, Trust and Foundations Manager at the RAF Benevolent Fund said:

“We, at the Fund, would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the Banham Foundation for their generous grant which will enable us to continue supporting RAF veterans, who without these breaks away, may not be able to go on holiday due to ill health, mobility issues, or bereavement.

“We are grateful for their longstanding commitment to supporting the RAF Family.”

Georgina Bramwell, Trustee of the Banham Foundation and Brand Director of Banham Security, said:

“Banham Foundation is proud to continue our support of the RAF Benevolent Fund and the vital work they do for the RAF community. We are honoured to help fund the Group Friendship Breaks, which offer elderly veterans not only the chance to enjoy a well-deserved holiday, but also the opportunity to connect, share experiences and form lasting friendships. It is a privilege to play a part in improving the quality of life for those who have given so much in service to our country.”

The RAF Benevolent Fund provides financial, emotional, and practical assistance to serving and retired RAF personnel and their families. This includes grants to help with financial difficulty, mental health support, Airplay youth clubs, and more.
