Hattons of London releases ‘Remembrance Day’ coins to support SSAFA’s work

Hattons of London, specialists in rare and exclusive coins, launches its 2025 Remembrance Day range today (October 20, 2025) and SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity will benefit from each coin sold.

SSAFA’s relationship with Hattons began in 2018, and to date has raised more than £750,000 for the Armed Forces charity. These funds go to support past, present, and future generations of UK military personnel – serving or retired – and their families.

Appropriately for 2025, which saw the eightieth anniversaries of VE-Day and VJ-Day – and ultimately the end of World War Two – the range of gold sovereigns features a depiction of a winged “Victory”.

The Roman figure of Victory has, through the centuries, transformed from being a symbol of conquest, to today, when she symbolises also the understanding of the human cost of such triumph. This graceful design embodies both triumph over tyranny, and the remembrance of sacrifice.

The obverse side of the coins – from a 1/8th sovereign to a £50 sovereign – features a portrait of His Majesty King Charles III.

Jenny King, SSAFA’s Head of Corporate Engagement, said:

“We’re extremely proud of our partnership with Hattons of London, a company with a strong and well-respected brand, with values that align with ours.

“Since 1885, SSAFA has made an unfailing commitment to the men and women of Britain’s Armed Forces and their families, continually adapting to meet their changing needs, while ensuring they never battle alone.

“However, we can only continue this life-changing – and in some cases life-saving – work with the help of supportive companies such as Hattons of London; and for this, we are incredibly grateful. Since 2018 Hattons of London has donated 10 percent of all net profits from sales of military-themed coin strikes in support of SSAFA beneficiaries, bringing their total donations to over £750,000.

“We’re honoured to continue this partnership with the launch of Hattons’ latest range, which marks the national period of Remembrance in 2025, knowing that it helps us to support not just the precious few veterans of World War Two, but of all conflicts UK Armed Forces have taken part in since.”

Hattons of London’s Managing Director, Simon Mellinger, noted:

“We’re delighted to partner with SSAFA once again in our promotion of the 2025 Remembrance Gold Sovereign range. Remembrance Day in 2025 will be even more poignant than usual as, this year, we commemorate the eightieth anniversary of both VE Day and VJ Day. In the current climate, it’s more important than ever that we don’t forget the horrors of war and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we could enjoy peace in our times. The range of coins commissioned by Hattons of London, featuring Victory and exquisitely crafted by the renowned designer, Jody Clark, provides a fitting way to pay tribute to all those who fought for their country and delivered both victory and peace.”
