Leadership Transition at Forces Employment Charity

Please find an update from Ben Farrell MBE, Chairman of the Board, Forces Employment Charity below:

After over seven outstanding years, Alistair Halliday has decided to retire and will therefore be stepping down as Chief Executive, at the end of July once his successor has been appointed.

Alistair has been an exceptional Chief Executive who has led the charity through significant expansion during his tenure. On behalf of the entire Board, I want to express our deepest gratitude to Alistair for his outstanding leadership, vision, passion, and significant contributions, initially to RFEA and then to the Forces Employment Charity, since RFEA’s combination with the Officers’ Association in 2022.

In the time that I have worked with Alistair he has helped change the narrative and public perception of our veterans and the amazing skills and experience they offer, adding to the workplaces of thousands of employers across the UK.

Under Alistair’s guidance, there have been multiple notable achievements, including securing FEC’s continued presence in the new CTP contract with Reed in Partnership, the integration of both TechVets and Heropreneurs into FEC, achieving widespread recognition for the new FEC brand and securing the national roll-out of our NOVA services across the United Kingdom, supporting veterans in the justice system.

Undoubtedly, a career defining moment of Alistair’s time with the charity will be his leadership throughout the combination of RFEA with the OA, creating a single charity that redefined every aspect of the employment support available for Service leavers, veterans, reservists, and their families throughout the UK. Since the combination, the FEC has consistently supported over 25,000 beneficiaries each year with enhanced tailored support. This would not have been possible without Alistair’s vision and passion to ensure that all members of the military community receive the highest level of support to help them face the potential challenges when transitioning into civilian life.

I wish Alistair all the best in his future endeavours and a very happy and healthy retirement.

To ensure a seamless transition, the Board has initiated a comprehensive search for a passionate and experienced leader to become the charity’s new Chief Executive. We are committed to identifying a leader who will build upon our strong foundation and drive our future success. In the meantime, Alistair, alongside our senior management team, will continue to manage operations as usual, ensuring continuity and focus on our strategic goals.

The Forces Employment Charity’s operations, strategic priorities and commitment to our clients, funders, stakeholders and the wider military community, remain unchanged. We are confident in the leadership team and our employees to navigate this period of transition with professionalism and expertise.
