Each week The Armed Forces Community Awards @ Soldiering On highlights a category that members may wish to engage with. This week, the focus is the Defence Inclusivity Award and why it matters that we get involved.
This category recognises individuals, teams or organisations that have demonstrated commitment to improving diversity, equality, belonging and inclusion within UK Defence and the Armed Forces community. This may include developing inclusive policies and practices, supporting under-represented groups to participate fully, or leading initiatives that address barriers to access, engagement or opportunity.
The work is often delivered over time and behind the scenes, but it supports stronger cohesion, confidence and participation across diverse communities within service and veteran populations. Nominations are welcomed for organisations putting forward their own internal teams, delivery partners, and beneficiary-facing services that have enabled meaningful change.
Recent winners and finalists illustrate the breadth of excellence in this category, including Maj Daljinder Singh Virdee MBE, recognised for his impactful role in promoting inclusivity within the Armed Forces; and Lt Col Rachel Diss, honoured for her leadership in fostering inclusion and respect across the Army Cadets.
If you would value help with eligibility, evidence, or framing impact, the team can provide one-to-one support. We are also running nomination support webinars on 19 February and 4 March https://x-forces.zohobackstage.com/WhoDoYouKnowTheArmedForcesCommunityAwardsatSoldieringOnNominationsWorkshop1
