Online 8 July and 21 July 09:30 – 16:00
Career Compass is a two-day virtual programme delivered by X-Forces Enterprise in partnership with London Stock Exchange Group for the past three years.
Designed for the Armed Forces Community, it helps delegates better understand how the business, public and third sectors are structured, how the wider economy works, and where opportunities may exist within them.
The Programme covers an understanding of the marketplace, where growth is happening, what different sectors and organisations look like, and how experience can transfer across them.
The Career Compass gives delegates that broader perspective, helping them make informed and confident choices about what comes next.
Often described as a “mini-MBA 101”, the programme is packed with facts, practical insight, research and live signposting. Delegates gain a clearer view of market size, flourishing sectors, the role of the public sector, and the differences between large organisations, SMEs, charities and not-for-profits. Additionally, and where possible introductions to organisations who may be able support thinking further or provide some practical support.
Career Compass is particularly useful for those leaving the Services, partners and spouses, and others in the Armed Forces Community who may be considering a career change or are unsure how the wider employment landscape fits together.
Should any Cobseo member have beneficiaries who would benefit from this support, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Feedback from Delegates
“Really enjoyable, interesting, and an opportunity to meet serving, veteran and wider military family in transition. A forum for all ranks and backgrounds, with high‑quality experienced leaders. Very well delivered insight to enterprise opportunities with great examples and experience provided.”
“We enjoyed a thorough overview of the UK economy and financial system followed by lively discussions about how we fit into these. The workshops also provided a great place for ideas and propositions regarding careers to be shared and challenged, as well as looking at how volunteering can really benefit both the individual and those they are serving.”
“The practical homework between the two days was useful for encouraging some critical thinking about specific roles in our chosen industries.”
