Military vs Cancer is a charity dedicated to supporting members of the Armed Forces community affected by cancer. Founded on lived experience, we provide practical, emotional, and financial support to serving personnel, veterans, and their families navigating a cancer diagnosis. Our work focuses on reducing the unique burdens military life can place on those facing illness, from mobility and isolation to financial strain. Through grants, peer support, and advocacy, we aim to ensure no one in the military community faces cancer alone. We are driven by compassion, understanding, and a commitment to standing alongside those who have served.
We provide direct, tailored support to members of the Armed Forces community impacted by cancer. This includes financial grants to ease immediate pressures such as travel, accommodation, and household costs during treatment. We also offer peer support, connecting individuals with others who understand both military life and a cancer journey. Recognising the impact on families, we extend our support to loved ones who often carry additional emotional and practical burdens. Alongside this, we raise awareness of the specific challenges faced by this community and work collaboratively to ensure individuals can access the wider support available. Our approach is personal, responsive, and rooted in lived experience.
We are proud to be part of a sector that comes together to support individuals through some of life’s most challenging moments. The collaboration between Armed Forces and cancer support organisations is particularly inspiring, ensuring people receive holistic care that recognises both their service and their health needs. Seeing the difference that timely support can make, whether easing financial stress, reducing isolation, or simply letting someone know they are not alone, is incredibly powerful. The shared commitment to compassion, dignity, and practical help across the sector is what makes it so impactful, and we are proud to contribute to that collective effort.
Being part of Cobseo strengthens our ability to support the Armed Forces community affected by cancer. It connects us with a trusted network of organisations, enabling collaboration, shared learning, and more effective signposting. Through Cobseo, we can ensure those we support are aware of, and able to access, the wider range of services available to them. Membership also gives us a platform to raise awareness of the unique challenges faced by our community, helping to influence understanding and improve support across the sector. Ultimately, it enables us to deliver more joined-up, impactful care.
