Anne Carr honoured by The King for Outstanding Service to the Naval Community

We are incredibly proud to celebrate our colleague, Anne Carr, a former Wren, who has been appointed MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours in recognition of her outstanding service to Royal Navy personnel, veterans, and their families.

Anne has dedicated 16 years to RNRMC as Head of Grants, bringing compassion, commitment, and quiet determination to every aspect of her role. Throughout her time with the charity, she has supported serving personnel and their families at every stage of life. She has also played a pivotal role in delivering projects totalling over £112 million, including major capital refurbishments and improvements, as well as funding family days, respite breaks, and operational welfare grants, particularly during COVID. Through this work, she has ensured vital support reaches those who need it most, whether ashore or afloat, in the UK or across the world.

During the Afghanistan conflict, Anne was a steadfast presence at some of the most challenging times. From providing immediate assistance through death-in-service grants to supporting the wounded, injured, and sick, she has been a constant source of reassurance and care for families experiencing profound loss. Her compassion and dedication in these moments exemplify the very best of the charity’s mission.

Anne’s impact is reflected not only in the scale of her work but in the lives she has touched and the difference she has made to so many. We warmly congratulate her on this well-deserved honour and thank her for her exceptional contribution to those who serve and the families who stand beside them.

Anne said:

“I feel very honoured to receive an MBE and truly grateful to have been recognised. My career in the WRNS, and those years, shaped so much of who I am today, the values I hold, the friendships I made, and my understanding of what service really means. It’s something that has stayed with me ever since.

“I was fortunate to join the charity in its earliest days, with a shared purpose and a real belief in what we were trying to build for Royal Navy personnel, their families, and veterans. It has been an honour to see that work grow and to play a part in supporting a community that means so much to me.

“This award reflects not only my own efforts but the dedication of everyone I’ve worked with over the years, the staff I have had the privilege to manage, colleagues working inside and outside the RNRMC, volunteers, families, and our beneficiaries.  I’m proud to have contributed to something that continues to make a difference and remain dedicated to supporting the Royal Navy community.”
