Help for Heroes appoints Warren Tucker as new Chair

Help for Heroes has announced Warren Tucker as its new Chair of the Board of Trustees.

His previous board experience includes appointments at global companies Tate & Lyle, Modulaire and Reckitt Benckiser, and at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

A Chartered Accountant with an MBA, Tucker served as an Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of British aerospace manufacturer, Cobham, for a decade until 2013.

He succeeds Sir Nigel Boardman, whose six-year term concluded this summer. Tucker is also a Trustee of Magna Learning Partnership Multi-Academy-Trust and the Chalke History Festival, both based in Salisbury, where he lives.

Tucker, who will officially take on the role from August, said:

“I’ve had a career in business, and I’ve always been inspired by the many friends and family who’ve served in the Armed Forces.

“Help for Heroes’ purpose is to support veterans and their families in their homes and communities across the UK by helping people improve their physical and mental health. This resonates very strongly with my values.

“I’m excited to be taking up the role of Chair and will dedicate myself to the Charity which is as consequential as it is exceptional.”

The military charity was launched in 2007 to support those returning from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan with life-changing injuries and illnesses.

James Needham, CEO at Help for Heroes, added:

“We are incredibly grateful to Sir Nigel Boardman for his outstanding service as Chair of Trustees. His leadership, wisdom and unwavering commitment have helped guide the charity through an important period in our journey, ensuring we remain focused on our mission to help veterans and families live well after service.

“As Help for Heroes approaches its 20th anniversary, I am delighted to welcome Warren Tucker as our new Chair. Warren brings a wealth of experience, insight and expertise, and I look forward to working closely with him as we continue to support veterans and families.

“At a time of increasing global instability, there is growing recognition of the important role our Armed Forces play in keeping our country safe. While many veterans go on to build fulfilling lives after service, others face significant challenges, and demand for our support continues to grow.”

“With Warren’s leadership, we will continue to champion the Armed Forces community, support those who need us, and drive the changes needed to ensure all veterans can live well after service.”
