A brand new online resource gives veterans and their families practical tools to strengthen financial wellbeing, reduce household costs and take positive steps towards a more secure future.
The Veterans Charity has launched the Veterans Toolkit, a new online resource designed to help veterans and their families take greater control of everyday finances, reduce household costs and build greater resilience for the future.
Created in response to the financial pressures experienced by many members of the Armed Forces Community, the Veterans Toolkit brings clear guidance, useful information and simple tools together in one accessible place. It is intended to support people before difficulties reach crisis point, while also helping those recovering from hardship to build greater stability and independence.
The Veterans Toolkit currently includes:
- A monthly Budget Planner to help households understand income and regular outgoings, identify pressure points and plan ahead.
- Energy Saving Advice with straightforward ways to understand energy use, reduce unnecessary consumption and manage costs.
- Debt Management guidance explaining possible next steps and where to find trusted, specialist support.
- Food Efficiency resources including practical shopping ideas, meal planning, batch-cooking guidance and nutritious recipes for tighter budgets.
- Information on discount schemes available to eligible veterans and members of the Armed Forces Community.
The collection will continue to grow as The Veterans Charity adds further tools, guidance and resources. It does not replace professional advice but aims to give members of the Armed Forces Community the knowledge, confidence and practical skills to make informed decisions, seek specialist support when needed and take positive steps towards greater stability.
Danny Greeno, CEO of The Veterans Charity said
“Our work begins when a veteran is already facing a crisis. The Veterans Toolkit allows us to go further by sharing practical information that can help veterans and their families take positive action earlier, feel more confident about everyday finances and build greater resilience for the future. We hope COBSEO members and partners will share it widely, use it in their own support conversations and help us reach everyone who could benefit.”
The Veterans Charity is encouraging Cobseo members, welfare organisations, service charities and others working with the Armed Forces Community to share the Toolkit with their networks and signpost veterans and families to the resources.
The Veterans Toolkit can be accessed via www.veteranscharity.org.uk/veterans-toolkit and is completely free to use.
