TV personality and author Lady Colin Campbell raised nearly £10,000 for a Worthing care home when she held her annual charity summer ball earlier this year.
The glittering Castle Goring Summer Ball event took place at her iconic home and raised £9,820 for Care for Veterans – a Royal Star & Garter Home.
It was the fourth year running that the socialite, who is affectionately known as Lady C, has chosen Care for Veterans as the official charity of her summer ball.
The Home provides long-term nursing, rehabilitation, respite and end-of-life care to veterans and their families who live with disabilities, including acquired brain injury and degenerative neurological conditions. It is now part of the Royal Star & Garter group, following a merger with the charity in 2025.
The event took place in June, but the total raised for Care for Veterans was announced in September, after all ticket sales and donations were received.
The Castle Goring Summer Ball was attended by 175 guests. Among those present were Lady C’s sons Dmitri and Michael Ziadie, Tsar Nicholas II of Russia’s grandniece Princess Olga Andreevna Romanoff, and members of the exclusive Peel Club – including the Earl of Burford – who arrived at Lady C’s home by helicopter.
They enjoyed a three-course meal in a marquee on the grounds of the castle and a charity auction and raffle. Among the prizes on offer were a week’s stay in an exclusive apartment in Tangier, a Champagne afternoon tea for 10 and a tour of Goring Castle with Lady C and a unique couture hat by luxury hat designer Deida Acero.
