The Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) is the Army’s national charity, supporting soldiers, veterans, and their immediate families in times of need. Founded in 1944, our purpose is to provide a lifetime of support to serving soldiers, former soldiers, and their families when they are in need, ensuring they can avoid hardship and enjoy independence and dignity.
In this role, you will join the successful Trusts and Foundations team, supporting across the programme and managing relevant relationships. With the guidance and support of the Trusts Manager, this role will deliver against annual income targets and support growth through excellent donor stewardship, high-quality reporting and proposals, and robust prospect development.
The Trusts Executive will manage a portfolio of existing Trusts and Foundations supporters, while also building and managing a strong pipeline of prospective funders through proactive research and relationship development. With the support of the Trusts Manager, this role will be responsible for delivering standard and bespoke funding proposals and applications. You will also work collaboratively across teams to understand and present the Charity’s work and impact.
With a unique, relevant, and compelling charitable proposition, a nationwide network of colleagues and beneficiaries, and a growing High Value Relationships programme, the Army Benevolent Fund is well placed to secure significant grant funding from Trusts and Foundations. Supported by the Trusts Manager and Head of High Value Relationships, and working closely with colleagues across fundraising, welfare, communications & marketing, and the regions, this role offers an opportunity to help develop and grow an important income stream for the Charity.
This role would suit a Trusts fundraiser interested in developing their skills and managing relationships, making a meaningful impact on those within the Army family facing need. The successful candidate will have strong written communication skills, and ideally a proven track record of managing relationships and securing grants, including from cold prospects.
It is essential for this role that the applicant has a strong relationship-building ability, proactive, organised, and collaborative approach along with a strong affinity with the Charity’s mission and beneficiaries.
The Charity operates a regional structure across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, with its central office in London.
Essential Criteria
1. Experience of fundraising, ideally in a Trusts or a High Value context
2. Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to influence and persuade through writing.
3. Strong organisational skills.
What We Offer
The starting salary is £38,399 per annum. After a probationary period of 6 months, the successful candidate will benefit from the Charity’s full range of employment benefits, including an income protection scheme and an employer contribution pension. There will also be opportunities to participate in key Charity events and activities, with a TOIL scheme in place.
This is a full-time post for 35 hours per week, on a permanent contract based at the Charity’s Office in London Victoria (The Charity currently operates a minimum of 2 days in the office).
