Purpose of role
To lead all the Charity’s digital marketing/social media activity with the specific aim of driving engagement with beneficiaries, growing the number of followers to social media channels, and raising greater awareness and support for the Charity’s work.
Working pattern
This a part time role of 20 hours per week working remotely, with the option to be in Head Office in Portsmouth. The role includes occasional weekend and evening work, local and long distance travel by appropriate means and as required, to include attendance at events to create digital content. Visits to head office and remote attendance at Team meetings will be required if working remotely.
The postholder will work closely with:
- The CEO
- The Head of Operations and Case Working Team
- Individual donors, supporters and beneficiaries
- Royal Navy Ships/Units and Community groups
- Volunteers
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Digital Marketing/social media
- Ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the charity social media channels
- Drafting engaging social media copy for charity wide campaigns and activities.
- Scheduling social media posts using social media tools
- Responding to messages, posts and comments received across social media channels,
in line with established charity protocols and responses.
- Maintaining and updating a 12-month social media calendar with planned social media activity and new social media requests.
- Working with colleagues to source potential future social media content and drive further engagement with new and existing followers.
- Feeding back on social media performance to the Trustees
- Work with the graphic designer to create content for the website, newsletters and resources.
- Photography at events
- Children’s competitions (such as Art or seasonal) to be run to increase awareness into schools

Regularly update personal training and skills.
