Care after Combat is looking for an experienced and confident Operations Manager to lead our operational delivery of Op NOVA across England.

This is a senior operational leadership role with responsibility for ensuring that Care after Combat delivers a high-quality, consistent and effective service for veterans in the justice system.

About the role

Working closely with the CEO, Deputy Operations Manager and our team of Regional Coordinators, the Operations Manager will lead Care after Combat’s delivery of the Op NOVA subcontract. You will provide leadership to a dispersed operational team, oversee service quality and performance, monitor outcomes and operational risk, and use data and insight to drive continuous improvement. The role also involves building and maintaining strong relationships with the Forces Employment Charity, NHS England, HMPPS, partner providers and other organisations across the Armed Forces and justice sectors.

As a member of Care after Combat’s Senior Management Team, you will provide operational insight to wider organisational planning and provide clear reporting and assurance to senior management and Trustees. The role is focused specifically on operational leadership and service delivery, working collaboratively with colleagues responsible for the charity’s business, governance, HR, finance, data protection and information security functions.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who can combine strategic oversight with practical, hands-on operational leadership.

You will have:

  • Significant experience of leading and developing teams, ideally including dispersed or remote staff.
  • Experience of operating at senior management level.
  • A strong understanding of high-quality, person-centred service delivery.
  • Excellent communication, report-writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience of managing performance and using data to improve services.
  • The ability to develop trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Sound judgement and a proactive approach to managing risk and competing priorities.
  • An understanding of the justice system and empathy with veterans of the UK Armed Forces.

Experience within the Armed Forces community, veterans’ services, the justice system, third sector or commissioned service delivery would be particularly welcome. Knowledge of Salesforce, Outcomes Star or similar case-management systems would also be advantageous.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are required. The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and NPPV2 Police Vetting.
