Job Purpose
The TPPC Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Polo Club and its staff, whilst ensuring the highest standards of customer care, compliance, financial control and equine welfare. The Club Manager will continue to build the Club’s membership and the participation of visiting teams whilst supporting the Armed Forces Equine Charity (AFEC) charitable objects.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Programme Delivery
- Work with the Polo Director and the AFEC Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to shape and deliver the strategic vision for TPPC.
- Lead a small team to deliver a thriving programme of events, which are open to both members and external customers, in order to build TPPC’s reputation and client base (for both the Grass and Arena Seasons).
- Encourage a supportive, inclusive culture that reflects the Charity and Club values.
Stakeholder Management
- Engage confidently and sensitively with the Club’s Members and visiting players, ensuring that any issues are dealt with promptly and correctly, in line with HPA regulations.
- Develop mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers, engendering a ‘one team’ approach to customer service.
- In conjunction with AFEC, develop new partnerships that broaden the reach of TPPC and the Charity, particularly within the Military and Veteran communities.
Safety
- Ensure compliance with all H&S regulation, including Garrison SHE expectations and HPA requirements.
- Create, implement, and regularly update risk assessments in line with industry standards, ensuring adherence to GDPR, safeguarding, DBS checks, etc.
Finance
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of budgeting and financial management.
- Introduce a pre-payment mechanism for all TPPC activities.
- Based upon market intelligence and benchmarking, build the Club membership year on year.
Marketing and Communications
- Lead on advertising and marketing activities for TPPC.
- Create and post engaging content across relevant social media platforms.
Essential Criteria
- Leadership Skills: Ability to build and lead a small, high performing team, which includes pony providers and other suppliers.
- Stakeholder Management: Comfortable engaging with a broad spectrum of individuals, military, civilian, and with commercial partners.
- Technical Skills: Ability to utilise office and on-line sales technology to improve business processes and financial outcomes.
- Club Experience: Have an in-depth understanding of how to run a successful members club, preferably a polo club.
Working Arrangements
- Ability to work flexibly to accommodate the needs of the Club, including working at weekends (off-set by non-working weekdays).
- Share on-call responsibilities (when the Club is open) with the Assistant Polo Manager.
