Army Families Federation – Overseas Engagement Assistant

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

Would you like to be part of a professional, friendly team that works to support Army families overseas? Why not apply to become part of AFF’s Overseas Team. As a small team we are often the first point of engagement for Army personnel and families overseas or those considering an overseas assignment. We are a key stakeholder with Overseas Commands and delivery organisations that support the Army family. If you have an understanding and knowledge of Army life and the challenges personnel and families face overseas, with good networking and interpersonal skills, the ability to work as part of a virtual team and build effective stakeholder networks and communication links then AFF needs you!

About the role

You’ll be the first point of contact for Army personnel and families seeking independent guidance and support on issues that may already be affecting them on an overseas assignment. Additionally, you will provide guidance and/or signposting for those considering an overseas assignment.

Collecting and recording evidence, you will seek to identify emerging locational issues to assist the Overseas Manager and AFF Specialists policy staff.

You will proactively engage with key stakeholders overseas and look to expand AFF’s reach via online meetings. As we increase our virtual presence you will also assist the Overseas Manager with elements of AFF’s social media engagement overseas and help maintain the overseas website pages.

AFF’s Overseas team works flexibly to cover different time zones and emerging priorities across the globe, so a degree of flexibility is required. Working hours are 25 per week (flexible requests are welcome to work 3-5 days per week).

This post is a permanent role with an annual salary based on £23,000 FTE.

This is a home-based role (UK only). Unfortunately, due to the difficulties obtaining employer’s liability insurance overseas, it is not possible to offer this role to a candidate based outside the UK.

What we are looking for

You’ll have an understanding and current knowledge of Army life and its impact on the Army family based overseas, with the ability to work effectively within your small team, but also across the organisation; developing relationships that support your role and others internally. You will have the enthusiasm and motivation to achieve results for Army families.

You’ll be confident helping with enquiries, with first-rate listening skills and the ability to provide clear information and guidance on complex issues.

You will be skilled in prioritising your workload and using your time effectively to be able to manage multiple tasks set against a complex and dynamic environment, due to wide geographical remit of this role. Given this is a home-based role, you will be self-motivated and able to use your initiative to undertake work. You will be an effective team player and willing to deputise for others in the team as required.

A full list of the skills and experience we are looking for can be found in the Job Description.

AFF encourages applications from all sections of the community.
