BFBS Big Salute Open for 2021 Applications on 1st April

The annual Big Salute campaign awards grants up to the value of £10k for projects that make a huge difference across the whole forces community.

Charities seeking support this year will be able to apply for grants online from Thursday 1 April at bfbs.com/bigsalute.

Recent Big Salute grants have funded a wide variety of projects, from horsemanship skills taught by Horseback UK – for veterans and personnel who’ve suffered life-changing injuries – to the provision of TVs for veterans through Help 4 Homeless Veterans, and vital supplies for families in financial hardship, via the Royal Caledonian Education Trust.

Following last year’s application process, the Big Salute committee has just announced the latest beneficiaries who will receive grants.

The 11 charities are: Army Widows’ Association; Beyond the Battlefield; Blesma, The Limbless Veterans; Blind Veterans UK; Erskine; Launchpad; Royal Naval Association (Wear Branch); Rugby for Heroes; UK Veterans Hearing Foundation; Veterans in Communities, and the War Widows’ Association.

The Big Salute is supported by BFBS Trustees and by the forces community through fundraising events such as golf tournaments in Estepona, ice hockey matches in Canada, and sponsored runs in the UK and overseas.

For full details about how to apply for a grant and ways to support the Big Salute, go to bfbs.com/bigsalute. The deadline for applications is 31 July 2021.
