BFBS

BFBS – Radio Presenter-Producer

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

BFBS, The Forces Station, wants to hear from you if you’re an experienced Radio Presenter-Producer who is ready for a new adventure, broadcasting to British audiences in the UK and overseas.

We currently have a number of 12-month vacancies for brilliant broadcasters who are excited to embrace our mission to entertain, inform, connect and champion serving British Forces personnel and their families.

In your year at BFBS, you’ll establish yourself as a Forces Broadcaster at one of our local radio stations around the UK (most likely Oxfordshire or Essex), before heading out to an overseas location for a detachment living and working in the military community.

You’ll present a Mon-Fri daily music radio show, broadcasting to people in the local military community, focused on serving personnel and their families. Your show will feature your own high-quality speech packages, telling stories and interviewing contributors from within your military community. You’ll balance this with fun interactive features of your own devising, alongside our mix of new music and classic hits.

You will have:

  • Recent experience of presenting live music radio programmes in a self-op studio, using industry-standard playout and scheduling systems. We need someone for whom a radio studio is already like a second home.
  • Experience of researching, recording, producing and editing speech content – such as interviews, packages, documentaries or podcasts. We need someone who will get out and about amongst the Forces community and tell their stories.
  • The flexibility to relocate initially to a new UK location, and eventually be detached to an overseas location. While detached overseas, you’ll be housed in single-living accommodation, travelling unaccompanied.
  • An eagerness to learn about Forces life, and support and connect military communities. Previous experience in military life is not a requirement, but you’ll be interested in learning quickly.
  • A full driving licence and your own vehicle – most military bases are in remote locations, and we’ll need you to be able to drive yourself around the Forces community.

  • Please combine the CV and covering letter into one document
  • An MP3 demo of max 3 minutes which should contain at least three strong music radio links, plus a recent factual package or interview. This should all be content that has been made for output, rather than specifically made for the demo
