Blind Veterans UK

Blind Veterans UK – Transport Co-ordinator

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

Rustington, West Sussex

Most of us grow up with 5 senses and can’t imagine what it’s like to lose any one of those.

For some ex-service people, this is their reality. Suddenly their whole way of life is changed, even walking to the shops becomes a huge task.

Fortunately, Blind Veterans are here to help rebuild their lives. But they can’t do it alone.

This is where you come in.

As Transport Co-ordinator, you’ll lead and co-ordinate a team of drivers who are essential to the day to day running of the facility.

You’ll work closely with the Booking & Admin Co-ordinator, and the Health Co-ordinator to ensure veterans are picked up and transported in comfort, safety and on time. You’ll plan routes, vehicles and schedules for your team and be their first line of support for any issues.

You’ll need some experience in the legislative and legal requirements that are part of a passenger transport operation and will need your own Class D PCV license to support the drivers when needed.

You’ll have an appreciation of the challenges associated with transporting passengers with visual impairments. And you’ll need empathy and a caring approach to always want to do the right thing for our veterans.

This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week, covering 5 days out of 7. There may be an occasional need for an overnight stay when collecting members.

We offer:

– Salary of £33,986 per annum
– Generous annual leave with the option to buy additional days
– Pension scheme with generous employer contributions
– Healthcare cash plan
– Access to legal services and mental health support
– Employee assistance programme
– Paid professional subscriptions and discounts
– Home working allowance
– Professional and personal development
– Enhanced pay

Blind Veterans UK helps vision-impaired ex-service people of every generation rebuild their lives after sight loss. We help blind ex-service people lead independent and fulfilling lives by supporting them with our in-depth expertise, experience and full range of services.

This position is subject to Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Checks.

We are only able to accept applications from candidates who are located in and eligible to work within the UK. We are unable to provide any type of Visa sponsorship.

We embrace diversity and welcome applicants from people with a disability and from all backgrounds and cultures.

The current closing date is 8 November, however we may close the role early if we successfully appoint a candidate, so please don’t delay in submitting your application.
