SSAFA

Carol concert is a festive fundraising triumph

Each year, SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity hosts an annual Christmas Carol Concert at the beautiful Guard’s Chapel at Wellington Barracks in London.

The event has already raised over £200,000, which helps the charity to continue to help veterans, service people, and their families in the London area.

Bear Grylls was in attendance and provided his views around Christmas time and faith, and SSAFA President, HRH Prince Michael of Kent was also in the audience.

SSAFA’s National Chair, Sir Simon Bollom gave a reading and Dr Thao Nguyen, GP, Army reservist, and volunteer with SSAFA Buckinghamshire, performed a song she had composed especially for SSAFA. More music was provided by the angelic voice of Inna Husieva, a Ukrainian opera singer who has temporarily relocated to London and is an Emerging Artist of the Scottish National Opera.

SSAFA’s Terrie Stapleton spoke about the outstanding work of the Stepping Stone Home, one of SSAFA’s specialist facilities, which looks after women and children who have suffered from domestic abuse and highlighted the need for continued support of the charity.

Thanks and congratulations on yet another outstanding evening of Christmas good cheer goes to Lady Walmsley, Chair of the Committee who organise the event. The beautiful setting and wonderful entertainment combined to keep SSAFA’s Carol Concert one of the most sought after invites of the year.

Lady Alex Walmsley said:

“I am delighted and heartened that our sponsors and individual donors continue to be so generous and willing to help our serving personnel, veterans and military families.”
