Amongst those skydiving on November 10th are a number of high-profile individuals including the Mayor of Bristol Marvin Rees, Chief Constable of Wiltshire Kier Pritchard and High Sheriff of Wiltshire Nicky Alberry DL.
The brave participants will descend in a tandem jump from 10,000 feet on November 10th at Old Sarum airfield. The site which history dates back to the First World War, will host the event as those taking part raise vital funds for Salisbury-based charity Alabaré. Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans service provides supported accommodation to British Armed Forces Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Laura Knight, Alabaré’s Community Engagement Officer says;
“Our Homes for Veterans provide ex-service personnel with the support and care they need to get back on their two feet after leaving the forces. Those taking part in the skydive will be making a real difference to the lives of those that we help and we are really thankful for the support we have received. The event is special in the sense that whilst commemorating those that served in World War One, we can also ensure that we are there for the heroes that need our help today.”
Alabaré provide dedicated support to Veterans across the South of England and Wales – specifically; Wiltshire, Hampshire, Gloucestershire, Devon, Dorset as well as North and South Wales. On any given night Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans are able to keep over 120 Veterans off the streets, making Alabaré the largest provider of supported accommodation for working age veterans outside of London.
