Corps Security to help military charity raise £100,000

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity will be celebrating Armed Forces Day on 29 June with its annual 13 Bridges Challenge, which sees supporters walk 10 miles criss-crossing the beautiful river Thames, taking in all the iconic London sights.

Corps Security is a Silver Sponsor of the event, which relies on corporate partners to assist it to raise much-needed funds.

Hannah Siddle, Senior Challenge Events Officer said:

“We could not run this event without the support of our sponsors. Corps Security have been helping us with this event for years. With the cost-of-living crisis, there is ever more need for our caseworkers to help our veterans and the families of service personnel, and we are hoping to raise over £100,000 this year, with the help of our corporate partners.”

Corps Security has been helping military families for even longer than SSAFA, which is the oldest tri-service charity in the UK, established in 1885.

Corps Security Operations Director, Ken Fissenden, said:

“Corps Security was founded in 1859 to provide employment for ex-servicemen returning from the Crimean War. Our founding principles of supporting veterans and furthering the aims and values of our service community are still prevalent. We are extremely proud to once again be supporting SSAFA with the annual 13 Bridges Challenge, where colleagues and members of the Corps veterans association will be taking part, walking the iconic landmarks of London.”

The 13 Bridges Challenge is open to all ages and abilities, and the route is entirely wheelchair accessible.

Attendance at the event has doubled over the last two years. This year the charity is aiming to have more than one thousand walkers take part in the challenge. In 2023 participants raised £95,000 but this year SSAFA is appealing for even more supporters to join in and help get the total to over £100,000.
