On Saturday 25 July 2026, supporters, veterans, businesses and members of our local community came together at the beautiful Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield for the East Durham Veterans Trust Summer Ball 2026. It was an evening filled with laughter, celebration and generosity, all in support of veterans and their families across the North East.
The Summer Ball has become one of the highlights of our fundraising calendar, bringing together people who share a common goal – ensuring that no veteran has to face life’s challenges alone. From the moment guests arrived, there was an incredible atmosphere as friends old and new gathered to celebrate the work of the charity and the difference that community support continues to make.
Guests enjoyed a fantastic evening of entertainment, including a delicious hot buffet, live music from the brilliant Soldier Mac, dancing, a charity raffle and an exciting auction, with every pound raised helping us continue to provide vital services for those who have served.
The event would not have been possible without the incredible generosity of our sponsors, donors and volunteers. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to every business that sponsored the evening, donated auction or raffle prizes, or supported us behind the scenes. Your commitment demonstrates the strength of our local community and the shared belief that our veterans deserve the very best support.
A huge thank you also goes to everyone who purchased a ticket and joined us for the evening. Your attendance directly supports our work, enabling East Durham Veterans Trust to continue providing mental health support, counselling, social inclusion activities, welfare advice and practical assistance to veterans and their families across the North East.
The Summer Ball was also an opportunity to reflect on how far the charity has come. Having now supported more than 1,300 veterans and family members, East Durham Veterans Trust continues to grow, ensuring that those who have served our country receive the support, respect and opportunities they deserve. Our recent recognition as a Valour Recognised Centre further demonstrates our commitment to delivering high-quality services to the Armed Forces community.
Events like the Summer Ball are about much more than fundraising. They bring together veterans, supporters, local businesses and community leaders in an evening that celebrates friendship, resilience and hope. Every conversation, every donation and every act of kindness helps us continue our mission of ensuring there is always someone to turn to.
