Fa-La-La-Fun at Care for Veterans Carol Concert

Care for Veterans’ annual Christmas Carol Concert saw over 500 members of the local community gather on Sunday 18 December at Lancing College Chapel to celebrate the festive season and raise vital funds for veterans’ care services.

The event raised an incredible £6,195.43, which will go on to help fund the charity’s in-house services for disabled ex-service personnel. These services include physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, chaplaincy care and assisted recreational activities.

With the uniformed TS Vanguard Cadets leading a standard procession down the aisle of the chapel during the opening carol from local choir ‘Worthing Voices’, attendees were keenly reminded of the reason why they support the charity – for those who have served our country bravely and are now in need of our help.

The event was a roaring success, thanks to the generosity of event sponsor Engage Wealth Management and guest readers Mayor of Worthing Henna Chowdhury and BBC Royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell and High Sheriff James Whitmore.

Just a couple of Care for Veterans residents were able to join the occasion, one of whom was resident veteran Vardre Holland. Varde served in the Army with REME during the Suez Canal Crisis.  As a regular attendee of the charity’s concerts, he shared that he thought that the concert “was lovely”.

Fundraiser and Event Organiser Myra said,

“I would like to thank everyone for their wonderful support and I hope that everyone had a lovely time and that the occasion has brought a bit of Christmas cheer. Funds raised from our annual concert enable the continuity of our vital services for disabled veterans.

“I hope everyone who attended knows that just by being there with us, they’ve made a positive difference to the lives of our brilliant veterans.”
