Fighting With Pride (FWP) is looking for an outstanding regionally focused LGBTQ+ Veterans Community Worker in the South West of England.  This contract is fixed term and currently funded for a period of 1 year, however, there is a view to this being extended further in the future.

This exciting, enabling, rewarding and busy role will make a real difference to the lives of LGBTQ+ Veterans, serving personnel and their families, in the South West region of England and around the UK.

FWP is a registered charity and was formed in January 2020 to support LGBTQ+ Veterans, serving personnel and their families, particularly those affected by the military ‘gay ban’.

Working as part of a wider exceptional community focused team throughout the UK, you will be getting to know LGBTQ+ Veterans, introducing them to our events and support, signposting them to organisations where they will receive a warm welcome and helping them recover and develop their self-esteem, self-confidence, independence, and resilience.

An LGBTQ+ Veterans Community Team Manager will guide you and you will be part of a welcoming, peer supporting team.

You will have a keen interest in, and thorough understanding of, the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ Veterans community (or experience of supporting another related community), previous experience of supporting and developing service users, strong relationship building skills and be a self-starter with a passion for helping people.

If you are interested in joining this friendly and encouraging team, please contact Julia Muir at julia.muir@fightingwithpride.org.uk for a full job description and person specification.

Please then apply, sending your C.V. and a maximum of two sides of A4 covering letter, addressing each aspect of the Person Specification (contained in the job description) to Julia Muir julia.muir@fightingwithpride.org.uk by 5.00 p.m. on Wednesday 1 May 2024.

FWP is an Armed Forces Covenant Employer.  We support and encourage service spouses, veterans and reservists in the workplace.
