Local team take on Snowdon Challenge for Armed Forces charity

Three local men from North Wales set themselves the incredible challenge of climbing Snowdon three times in 24 hours to raise money for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

Carwyn Fôn, Leon Roberts and Gordon Linning took on the daring challenge on Friday 11 December in aid of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity and completed the challenge in 16 and a half hours.

Leon, a former cadet RSM and Ambassador for the MPCT Bangor, and Gordon, a veteran of 7 Para RHA, suggested fundraising for SSAFA after joining Carwyn on regular hikes in Snowdonia National Park.

Carwyn said,

“We completed the challenge in 16 and a half hours. There was lots of moaning, groaning, aches and knee shakes, but we’re delighted that we made it up and down Snowdon 3 times in 1 day.”

“It’s widely known that charities have taken a massive hit recently due to the pandemic, so we’re really pleased we have been able to raise much needed funds for SSAFA.”

The team are aiming to raise £1,000 for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity in Anglesey. If you would like to support the team, please visit: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/carwyn-leon
