Charlie Charlie One (CC1) is a UK-wide military charity dedicated to supporting serving Armed Forces personnel, veterans and their families who are affected by cancer.
Founded in 2021, CC1 provides compassionate, confidential peer support, recognising the unique challenges faced by members of the Armed Forces community when dealing with a cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
Our strength lies in our network of dedicated volunteers, many of whom have personal experience of military life and cancer. This shared understanding enables us to provide empathetic, practical and meaningful support to individuals and families during what can be an incredibly difficult time.
Our support includes:
One-to-one peer support: Providing a listening ear, reassurance and ongoing emotional support through telephone calls, text messages and email.
Buddy support: Connecting beneficiaries with volunteers who understand the challenges of living with cancer within the military community.
Information and signposting: Helping individuals access appropriate specialist services, charities and organisations for additional practical, emotional or financial assistance.
Support for families: Recognising that a cancer diagnosis affects the wider family and offering compassionate support to loved ones.
Ongoing contact: Maintaining supportive relationships throughout diagnosis, treatment, recovery and beyond, according to individual needs.
CC1 works alongside other military and cancer support organisations, including referral partners, to ensure beneficiaries can access appropriate help when they need it.
With a growing nationwide volunteer network, our approach is personal, flexible and centred on the individual. We understand the importance of military camaraderie and the difference that speaking to someone with shared experiences can make.
Our mission is simple: to ensure that no member of the Armed Forces community affected by cancer feels they have to face it alone.
To provide recreational and other leisure time facilities for serving members of the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, or the Maritime Reserve and their families, and other specified classes including ex-serving members of the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines, and serving members of the Army or the Royal Air Force, attached to or embedded with Royal Navy units.
Extensive health & leisure facilities including a golf course, accommodation, function rooms and Woodland Adventure Golf.
