About the appointment
Introduction
As we establish the first Women Veterans Forum, we want to hear directly from women veterans with a wide range of lived experiences. Our aim is to create an inclusive and representative Forum reflecting diversity in age, length of service, Service and role, Regular and Reserve backgrounds, family circumstances, and experiences during and after service.This application form is designed to help us understand your experiences and perspectives. Please provide as much relevant information as you feel comfortable sharing.
Appointment description
Forum Members Duties and Responsibilities
- Members are expected to make all reasonable efforts to attend all Women Veterans Forum meetings, and to:
- Review any pre-meeting materials shared in advance of Forum meetings;
- Actively participate in discussions and collaborate with other members and officials;
- Provide feedback, analysis and suggest potential solutions throughout meetings where appropriate;
- Share insights from their lived experience of service in, and transition from, the UK Armed Forces;
- Support delivery of the Veterans Strategy themes in relation to women veterans;
- Promote the UK Government’s work to improve outcomes for women veterans.
Organisation description
The Women Veterans Forum provides a platform for the voices of women veterans to be heard by the Minister for Veterans and People and HM Government on issues they wish to raise. It also supports of the delivery of the Veterans Strategy’s themes of ‘Celebrate’, ‘Contribute’ and ‘Support’, with particular regard to women veterans.
To achieve this the Women Veterans Forum will:
· Engage in open dialogue and the exchange of ideas between Forum members and government officials on relevant policy and activity;
· Highlight priorities, opportunities and challenges facing women veterans in society;
· Share members’ expertise and insight to inform and support government consideration of issues affecting women veterans.
Board composition
· The Forum group will be made up of 10-15 selected women who have previously served in the UK’s Armed Forces

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this role you must be a woman who has served in the UK Armed Forces as a Regular or a Reservist.
