Moor Hall Golf Day raises over £20,000 for BLESMA

An incredible £20,655.64 was raised on the day for BLESMA, the Limbless Veterans, when 104 golfers came together for a very special Charity Golf Day at Moor Hall Golf Club, Sutton Coldfield – with further donations expected to increase the final total.

Held on 29 September, the event brought together golfers, veterans, supporters and local businesses for a memorable day of golf and fundraising for a charity particularly close to the organisers’ hearts.

Several of the organisers have served in the Armed Forces and lost friends and comrades in recent conflicts, so they understand only too well the importance of the work BLESMA does to support injured veterans.  Their fundraising for the charity began last year when a team completed the Three Peaks Challenge, raising more than £5,000.  This year they set themselves an even bigger challenge – staging their first charity golf day, in just 3 months!

With Moor Hall’s course in superb condition and the weather playing its part, 104 enthusiastic competitors, with 9 BLESMA members among them, enjoyed a fantastic day, which included on-course challenges and Beat the Professional.  This was followed by excellent food and hospitality in the clubhouse and a hugely successful evening of fundraising.

Alex Trigg, one of the organisers, Moor Hall member and Veteran, said:

“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made the day possible – our players, sponsors, donors, volunteers and everyone who gave so generously.  We are also incredibly grateful to Moor Hall Golf Club and its members.   The response throughout the day was overwhelming and has given us a wonderful foundation to build on for the future”.

The organisers now hope the event will mark the beginning of a lasting relationship between BLESMA and Moor Hall Golf Club.
