The Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC) Association is a charitable organisation that supports former members of the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps. The Administration Officer will be employed by the QARANC Association and will provide administrative support to the Association’s Board of Trustees and membership.

The Association is seeking to appoint a part-time Administration Officer with excellent organisational ability and strong interpersonal skills to support the General Secretary in the day-to-day administration of the office. Duties will include responding to members’ enquiries, maintaining the Association database, supporting social media activity and assisting with finance-related administration.

Purpose and Charitable Objectives

1.       To promote the efficiency of the Armed Forces by:
a.       Maintaining contact between former members of the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps (the Corps) and former and serving members of the Royal Army Medical Service who previously served in the QARANC, fostering mutual friendship between them and.
b.       Fostering esprit de Corps, comradeship and the welfare of the Corps, while preserving its traditions.
c.        Developing public knowledge and understanding of and partnerships to promote the historical role, function and heritage of military nursing.
d.       Preserving, for the public benefit, tangible heritage items held by the QARANC Association.
2.       To relieve, either generally or individually, members of the Association, former members of the Corps, and former and serving members of the Royal Army Medical Service who previously served in the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps, together with their dependants, who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress.

Post Description

This is a varied role encompassing a broad range of administrative duties. The Administration Officer is expected to be well organised, adaptable, willing to develop new skills, and able to demonstrate professionalism, discretion and compassion in supporting the work of the Association. The postholder will work as part of a small team and contribute to the effective delivery of the Association’s charitable objectives. Travel to other locations may be required.
The role requires a regular working presence at the Association office. Some home working may be available under a hybrid working arrangement, subject to operational requirements and agreement with the Chair.

Management

The QARANC Association is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. Its members comprise the Board of Trustees, who are responsible for the governance and management of the Association in accordance with its Constitution. The Board meets quarterly. Trustees also serve on sub-committees for Governance, Finance, Grants and Benevolence, Heritage and Chattels, Media and Communications, and Membership, which meet as required to support delivery of the Charity’s objectives.

Administration

The Association currently employs a General Secretary and Administration Officer, with part-time support from the Treasurer and Gazette Editor.
Location

QARANC Association, Robertson House, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Camberley GU15 4NP.

The office is situated within a military establishment and shares premises and infrastructure support with other military charities. The Administration Officer will be expected to demonstrate appropriate awareness of, and respect for, the military environment in which they will operate.

Hours
The post is for 22.5 hours per week, normally worked over three days. Some flexibility will be required, as occasional evening and weekend attendance may be necessary and may include an overnight stay.

Salary and Benefits
