The Royal Artillery

The Royal Artillery, officially the Royal Regiment of Artillery and commonly known as ‘The Gunners,’ is the arm of the British Army that provides surveillance, target acquisition, and heavy firepower. Founded in 1716, it operates guns, rockets, missiles, and air defence systems to support military operations around the world.

The Royal Artillery consists of Regular and Reserve regiments, spread across the country, from Plymouth in the Southwest, to Edinburgh in the North, and everywhere in between. Additionally, we have a vibrant veteran community of soldiers and officers spread throughout the UK. The Royal Artillery Communications and Media team drives public conversation about why the Regiment remains one of the most important elements of global security.
