The Legion is at the heart of a national network that supports our Armed Forces community through thick and thin – ensuring their unique contribution is never forgotten. We’ve been here since 1921 and we’ll be here as long as they need us.

Our Values and Behaviours

Does the following describe you?

– Enjoy and thrive in working in teams and with others
– Passionate about supporting the Armed Forces community and honouring their contribution
– Come to work each day to be the best you can and to learn and develop
– An encourager, eager to share your knowledge and experience to help others

If so then we would like you hear from you….

The Role

As an Advice and Information Officer, you will be primarily involved in supporting the Legion’s Pop-In Centre and from time to time setting up and attending localised events. You will provide advice and information about all aspects of the Legion’s work. In addition, you will be expected to develop and deliver events and activities within the Pop-In that promote the Legion’s services and Partnerships.  You will also develop partnerships with external services and other charities which aid the Legion in supporting the Armed Forces Community.  You will also recruit and mentor a team of volunteers who support the Legion’s activities.

You will be accustomed to providing advice and information support to customers and will have an understanding of welfare provision.  You will have experience of building relationships with a range of different agencies and in supporting volunteers.  You will have community and partner engagement experience and a creative attitude to the development of activities.  An excellent communicator with an outgoing personality and strong organisational and planning skills, you will also need good IT skills and be confident in supporting our beneficiaries to access online information for themselves.

It is essential you have empathy with the UK armed forces community and some knowledge and understanding of this area would also be an advantage.

Whilst the post is Birmingham-based, travel may be required across the area on occasions.
