Royal Naval Association appoints Kate Aldous as Interim Chief Executive Officer

The Royal Naval Association (RNA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kate Aldous as Interim Chief Executive Officer.

Kate brings a wealth of leadership experience to the role, alongside a deep understanding of the naval community gained through more than two decades of service in the Royal Navy. A Warfare Officer for 21 years, Kate served in a range of operational and leadership appointments across the Fleet, qualifying as a Fighter Controller, Principal Warfare Officer (Air) and Above Water Warfare Officer. Her service included appointments at sea and with Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST), culminating in her final seagoing role as Executive Officer of HMS St Albans, conducting operations in the North Sea and Arctic Circle.

Following her departure from the Royal Navy in 2021, Kate spent two years with Captain Naval Recruiting before joining the RNA in May 2023 as Governance Support Officer. Over the past three years, she has developed a strong understanding of the Association, its members, governance structures and strategic priorities, making her ideally placed to lead the organisation during this transitional period.

The Association would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Bill Oliphant for his dedication and service during his tenure as Chief Executive Officer.

Speaking about her appointment, Kate said:

“It is an honour to take on the role of Interim CEO of the Royal Naval Association. As someone who has served in the Royal Navy, and having worked closely with the Association over the past three years, I understand both the challenges and opportunities ahead. I look forward to working with our members, volunteers, staff and supporters to build on the RNA’s proud legacy and ensure it continues to thrive for future generations.”

The Royal Naval Association wishes Bill every success for the future and looks forward to supporting Kate as she takes on her new role and leads the Association into its next chapter.
