Royal Navy veteran up for Welsh award

James Cadmore, member of the Royal Naval Association (RNA) Swansea Branch, and who works for Alabaré, has been shortlisted for Leader of the Year Award at the Welsh Veteran’s Awards on 3 July.

James, a Royal Navy veteran, is the Operations Manager for homelessness charity, Alabaré and has also worked in the Police Service on the Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Unit.

James said:

“Currently, as the Operations Manager for Wales at Alabaré, I support homeless veterans by managing the largest supported housing operation in Wales and transforming this service to better meet their needs.”

At Alabaré James’ focus has been on transforming the Wales operation to better support homeless veterans by securing partnerships with other charities and organisations. James has led an enhancement of the services, offering veterans the best opportunities to achieve independent living in Wales.

One of the veterans James has helped through Alabare said:

“I suffer from mental health issues and anxiety, and arriving at one of James’s supported houses with nothing but a pair of shorts was a daunting experience. However, James has been a true gentleman and has significantly helped me on my journey over the past six months.”

The Welsh Veteran’s Awards ceremony is held in Cardiff on 3 July.
