Sale Sharks show their support for the Poppy Appeal

Sale Sharks will show their support for the Poppy Appeal tonight (Friday) ahead of their home clash with Saracens.

As well as taking time to recognise the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces community, Sharks Community Trust will also celebrate the success of Sharks Forces, a veterans’ project funded by the Royal British Legion, helping more than 40 veterans this year.

At tonight’s match, two of the Sharks Forces participants, John Ward and Craig Monaghan, both recent service leavers, will walk out with the teams to deliver the match ball and carry the Royal British Legion Poppy Wreath.  Craig has recently gained employment within the Sharks Community Trust working on a number of programmes including a men’s mental health project.

There will be a minute’s silence before kick-off where members of the Air Cadets will hold up a Royal British Legion ‘Live On’ flag.  50 veterans will also attend the match courtesy of tickets provided by Printerland.

Poppies will be displayed on the big screen before the game and the players will have poppies on their matchday shirts.
