Servicewomen’s Charity announces new President

The WRAC Association: The Servicewomen’s Charity, is delighted to announce that General Dame Sharon Nesmith DCB ADC(Gen) has accepted the position of President of the Women’s Royal Army Corps Association.

As Vice Chief of the Defence Staff, General Dame Sharon was our honoured guest at the Association’s AGM in March of this year (pictured), delivering a moving speech and meeting many of our female veteran and serving members. We are thrilled that she has accepted our invitation to join us as our President, a position held by Katharine, Duchess of Kent from 1970 until her death in September last year.

We were delighted to announce the news at our June gathering for afternoon tea in Edinburgh and see how thrilled our members are to welcome the Vice Chief.

General Dame Sharon has kindly agreed to write a regular piece for our members in our Association’s magazine, The Lioness, which all members receive twice a year.

If you know of any serving or veteran women, regular or reserve, Royal Navy, British Army or RAF who are not currently members, why not encourage them to register today for free!

A huge thank you to everyone involved and a very big, warm, Lioness welcome to General Dame Sharon from us all!
