SSAFA Cardiff 5k race series gets underway for 2023

The first of the 2023 Cardiff 5k roadruns in aid of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity saw a more than 200 runners from across South Wales – and even from over the bridge in Bristol – take part.

Celebrating its silver jubilee this year, the series of three races over the summer contributes much-needed funds to the South East Wales Branch of the UK’s oldest tri-service military charity.

Top places were as follows:

Male

1 Jonathan Hopkins (Swansea Harriers) 14m 41s

2 Daniel Hamilton (Pontypridd Roadents) 14m 52s

3 Felix McGrath (Bristol and West) 15m 04s

Female

1 Millie Gold (Cardiff Athletics) 17m 07s

2 Kate Roberts (Swansea Harriers) 17m 08s

3 Hana Blake (Cff Runners) 17m 10s

The next SSAFA Cardiff 5k race will be on Wednesday, June 28.

Registration on the night runs from approximately 5.30pm to around 10 minutes before the race begins at 7.30. However, online registration closes before 4pm to allow time to transfer data and set bibs aside.
