A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Data Governance Manager (Maternity Cover) to join the Data Governance Team for up to one year at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

About the role

You will be ensuring that the organisation has robust practices & procedures to ensure it operates effectively and efficiently about its Data Protection obligations working with senior management and the external Data Protection Officer to ensure best practice is implemented. This role also takes the lead on handling Subject Access Requests, data breach reporting, and conducting reviews to ensure privacy and data protection compliance is being managed across the different SSAFA teams and is expected to play a significant part in ensuring that GDPR training across the organisation is relevant.

We are open to discussing the possibility of combining remote working with office work and working 30 hours a week.  Please wait until the job offer stage before asking us about flexibility, and we will explore what is possible for the role.

About the team 

The Data Governance Manager (Mat Cover) will report to the Director of Finance and work very closely with our external Data Protection Officer, who provides expertise and objectivity to the organisation. The DGM will also work closely with the Data Governance champions that represent each team across SSAFA. 

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of experience of working with data protection laws and their application in a large organisation alongside an excellent knowledge of data protection legislation under GDPR and DPA 2018.You will need to show that you can think creatively and analytically to find pragmatic solutions that you drive through to implementation.
