A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Personal & Family Support Worker to join the Personal Support & Social Work Service team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, supports the person behind the uniform; any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us. Every year, SSAFA helps more than 73,000 people from the Forces family to get back on their feet; those currently serving, reserves, veterans and their families. Support is there for people at any stage in their military career; from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran – no one’s service is ever forgotten. We give hope, help and personal support for as long as it takes to get that person’s life back to where they want it to be.

About the role

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and committed individual to provide wide ranging responsive support to military personnel and their families in British forces Cyprus. The personal and family support workers provide assistance to serving and entitled personnel and their families during their time in Cyprus. Working both independently and alongside the MOD welfare and community support networks they offer advice, support and guidance. The workers are trained to specifically provide an in-depth confidential and impartial welfare service.

A relocation package is available for this role.

About the team

There are three full time Personal and Family Support worker posts on island. Travel across island is required to offer support to colleagues as needed. The team also work alongside the Social Work team, Victim and witness support team, Solutions relationship support, community volunteers, childminder coordinator, fostering service.

About you

You will ideally have strong practical experience of working within an adult and/or children and families setting, excellent interpersonal, organisational and administrative skills. Ideally you will have experience and expertise in providing community support in a military environment. You must have a current full driving licence and ability to drive manual cars. There will be a requirement to drive to different bases on the island.
