An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Senior social Worker to join the Personal Support & Social work Service (PS&SWS) at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

SSAFA is the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity. We have been providing lifelong support and specialist services to current and former members of the Armed Forces and their families for more than 125 years.

Our community in Gibraltar responds to the diverse and unique needs of the British Forces. SSAFA is committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and Adults at Risk.

To succeed you will be a registered Social Worker with relevant experience.  You should also have the ability to work effectively without direct supervision and possess excellent interpersonal, communication and I.T. skills. Ability to undertake S47 enquiries and using ABE.

About the role

You will be delivering a contractual professional service that provides emotional and practical support to the serving personnel and their families. You will be a dedicated social worker carrying out both statutory and non-statutory duties. Working both independently and alongside the MOD welfare and community support networks and working closely with the Naval social worker

You will be expected to participate in the on call rota. A full, clean, current driving licence with the ability to drive manual cars is essential.

About you

As a professionally qualified and registered practitioner with HCPC, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and an in-depth knowledge of safeguarding issues.  You will have experience of working with children and family’s services and ideally have adult social work experience.  You will be expected to show competence in working in a culturally diverse environment’ skills in undertaking out child protection enquiries.
