Step Together

Step Together – Support Worker (Project Manager – (Wounded, Injured and Sick Service Personnel and Veterans – East of England)

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

Step Together Volunteering’s Rehabilitation through Volunteering project provides in-depth support to wounded, injured and sick (WIS) veterans and service personnel across England to engage in  community volunteering as part of their rehabilitation and recovery process.

We are seeking a Volunteer Project Manager to work directly with WIS clients in the East of England, working alongside Personnel Recovery staff and representatives from veterans’ organisations engaged in  the WIS recovery programmes. Through one-to-one support, group presentations, workshops, visits and follow-up mentoring, the post-holder will encourage and support WIS clients into volunteering placements, with the aim of enhancing confidence and personal skills and supporting a successful transition to civilian life.

The position will be home-based in the East Midlands/East of England and we are interested in hearing from people who may live in any of the following locations:

Leicester, Coventry, Nottingham, Milton Keynes, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire or any other locations spanning this region.

The role will involve significant travel to clients, referral agencies, recipient charities, and the PRU in Colchester, across the East of England, so the use of a car and full, clean driving licence is essential.

This position requires persistence, self-motivation, and determination, and would be very well suited to someone with direct military (or military family) experience at a management level. The ability to relate to veterans and soldiers of all genders and all ages, and their families, with a specific focus on supporting those who have been wounded, injured or sick, is crucial. Applicants should be comfortable with remote working and have a valid driving licence.

This is a permanent fixed term contract to end of April 2024. Depending upon funding going forward,  the role may be extended further.

Hours: 21 hours per week (to be worked over 3 to 5 days between Monday to Friday)

Salary: £15,300 actual (£25,500 FTE)

Holidays: 20 days including public holidays (33 FTE)

To apply, please complete an application form (available to download from www.steptogether.org.uk) and send to admin@step-together.org.uk explaining clearly how you meet the criteria outlined in the  person specification (also available on our website).
