BFBS Radio recently launched Team Talk, a brand new show about what family life is really like, when one, or both parents are serving members of the UK armed forces.
Broadcast every Tuesday over 13 weeks, the show will feature a series of military families talking about the issues that affect them. Everything from the upheaval of being posted to a new home to finding the right help with special educational needs and coping with time spent apart from loved ones.
The show, which was made in partnership with TBI Media after being granted a share of The Audio Content Fund, will also feature celebrities like magician LCpl Richard Jones, pro-Rugby Union player Joe Cokanasiga and SAS and TV star Billy Billingham, who all have a military connection. They’ll share their journey in exclusive interviews, revealing interesting, thought-provoking and positive stories.
Jill Misson and Charlie Fife present the programme and, as forces broadcasters and military spouses themselves, they have first-hand experience of many of the issues raised in the series.
Listeners will also hear from Louise Fetigan, the founder of Little Troopers – a charity that supports military children and families – who will join Jill and Charlie each week as they meet a new military family somewhere in the UK – learning about their story and offering advice on how to navigate military family life and celebrating the positives that come with it.
Over the course of the series, Team Talk will also shine a spotlight on the achievements and positive aspects of life for military children and teenagers. From the small and mundane to significant milestones, there’s lots going on that’s worth championing. For example, five year-old Joshua, who’s learning to manage his Sensory Processing Disorder and Victoria in Gibraltar, who has been selected to play with the Gibraltar under 16s Women’s Football team.
Each week, military children will take the reins as the show’s DJ and introduce a song that resonates most with their forces family life. It might be a track that drums up patriotic pride in their serving parent, a song that helps them feel brave each time they face their first day at a new school or the song that reminds them of their serving parent on deployment.
The episodes will air every Tuesday at 6:30pm BST, on BFBS Radio and there’s another chance to hear Team Talk every Sunday at 11:30am BST.
You can also hear Team Talk on BFBS Radio 2, Tuesdays at 4:30pm BST and on Saturdays at 10:30am BST.
The podcast will be available at www.bfbs.com/podcasts

Note to Editors:
BFBS is a military charity and broadcaster that entertains, informs, connects and champions the UK Armed Forces.
We bring entertainment, news, sport and information services to the military, their families and veterans worldwide. We spread happiness and keep people in touch, building morale among the military overseas – offering them a valuable connection to life back home, and a way to share experiences and build communities.
We are also the home of military content, championing the military by keeping their activities in the public eye on our Forces digital channels and on our national TV channel.
And our commercial services, which provide income for our charity, span training, digital and creative services and pioneering technology solutions that enable media and communication in the hardest to reach places.
