The Armed Forces Outreach Service have appointed a new Armed Forces Coordinator

The Armed Forces Outreach Service, a local authority partnership covering the areas of Gateshead, Newcastle, Northumberland and Durham is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Mcfadyen as the new Armed Forces Coordinator to the service.

Lisa’s affiliation to the military started with her being born in a military hospital. Spending her childhood moving around the UK and Europe with her family and serving Father, Lisa  joined the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) at 16 years of age and served for 8 years before leaving to undertake a law degree. Lisa worked in project management for Glasgow City Council for a number of years, conceiving and managing their City wide Vocational Training Programme, before then rolling it out to the seven Local Authorities surrounding Glasgow. Marrying into the Army, Lisa spent 9 years living in Germany and all over the UK, during which time she had responsibility for introducing and implementing the military’s “Pay As You Dine” project across the entire of British Forces Germany (BFG). More recently Lisa worked within Catterick Garrison taking responsibility for the welfare of Service Personnel and their families across a large area in a diverse and challenging environment.

Lisa started with the service on 16 August and brings with her a wealth of knowledge on the issues being faced by those leaving the forces, veterans and family members.
