The Veterans Farm-Able Foundation is one of the South West’s most respected veterans’ charities. We offer support and outdoor wellbeing to veterans with PTSD and other mental health conditions. We work with land and estate owners in the South West to offer therapeutic learning, horticultural and other land-based experiences.
As part of an ambitious programme of growth we’re looking for a dynamic, committed individual to broaden the reach of our services and increase the size of our cohort of veterans. The successful candidate will strengthen our links to referral agencies such as GP’s surgeries, NHS Mental Health Services and other veterans’ organisations. They will also be working closely with communities in the region, bringing veterans together to create local projects.
The successful candidate will be:
• A proven self-starter with a high level of initiative.
• Aware of the specific needs of the military veterans’ community in the South West.
• Aware of the mental health issues that can affect military veterans and the impact those issues can have on veterans’ lives.
• Experienced at working in the South West’s communities with an understanding of how to engage ‘hard to reach’ members of those communities.
• Able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, not just veterans but also health professionals and senior community leaders as well as estate owners and farmers.
• A good written and verbal communicator with a reasonable level of I.T. literacy.
The successful candidate will be need to pass a DBS check and will be subject to a two month probation period. Safeguarding training will be provided in accordance with charity policy.
