The Royal Naval Association is looking to create more opportunities for different groups of shipmates to connect, following a weekend in Falmouth that brought 13 women together for friendship, respite and shared experiences.
Thirteen women arrived in Falmouth with different lives, different pressures and different reasons for needing a break.
By the end of the weekend, they had become a small tribe, brought together by sea air, shared laughter and the kind of conversations that only happen when people finally have the chance to exhale.
The weekend offered an opportunity to step away from everyday pressures, enjoy new experiences and, perhaps most importantly, spend time with other women who understood the unique connections and experiences that come with being part of the wider Royal Navy community.
The Royal Naval Association now wants to build on the experience by exploring more opportunities designed around the different people, interests and needs within its community.
Andy Coles, CEO at the Royal Naval Association, said:
“One of the most powerful things about the RNA is the vast network of its members who all have different circumstances yet share similar values and a common connection. This weekend showed what can happen when we create the opportunity for some of our members to grow new connections in a safe environment.
“We want to do more of this, and not just for one group. Our community is incredibly diverse, so we want to hear directly from our shipmates about the experiences and opportunities that would matter to them.
“If there is something you think could bring people together, whether around a shared experience, interest or stage of life, please tell us. Your idea could be where our next adventure begins.”
The initiative reflects the RNA’s commitment to ensuring that shipmates have opportunities to find friendship, connection and a sense of belonging within the naval community.
