580 charitable organisations supported and 1,493 grants awarded as demand for veterans’ services continues to grow.

Over the past decade, the Veterans’ Foundation has awarded more than £37 million to the people and projects delivering life-changing support to veterans, serving personnel and their families across the UK.

Powering frontline support across the UK

The Veterans’ Foundation has awarded 1,493 grants to organisations ranging from national charities to small grassroots groups embedded in local communities. The funding provides mental health and PTSD support, tackle homelessness, improve access to employment and training, and strengthen community connections for veterans, those in service and their families.

Many grant recipients receive repeat or multi-year funding, helping them to sustain and grow services over time and respond to changing needs within the Armed Forces community.
As demand for veteran support continues to grow, the Foundation is aiming to reach £40 million in funding by the end of this year. Growing public support has enabled the Veterans’ Foundation to significantly expand its grant-giving over the past decade, increasing annual funding from £57,000 in 2017/18 to £8.85 million in 2024/25.

So far this year , the Foundation has awarded more than £5.7 million to organisations delivering frontline support across the UK, including projects tackling homelessness, mental health challenges, social isolation and barriers to employment for veterans, serving personnel and their families.

Mark Ormrod MBE, Ambassador for the Veterans’ Foundation, former Royal Marine, Invictus Games athlete, author and motivational speaker, said:

“I’ve seen first-hand the challenges many veterans face when they leave service, and the importance of having the right support at the right time.

“The Veterans’ Foundation funds organisations embedded in communities, and they understand what veterans and families really need. Awarding more than £37 million in grants over 10 years is an incredible achievement, but what matters most is the lives that have been changed because of it.”

Jane Gurney, CEO of the Veterans’ Foundation, said:

“For 10 years, we’ve backed charities and community organisations delivering frontline services to veterans and familiesacross the UK. As more people from the Armed Forces community seek support, long-term investment in the help they rely on has never been more important.”

“As we enter our second decade, our focus is on strengthening the charitable organisations closest to these challenges and ensuring veterans and their families can access support when and where they need it most.”
